Food colour- Yellow – a pinch
Cardamom-4 crushed or powdered
1.Soak almonds and cashew nuts in warm water for an hour and peel the skin from the almonds
2.Using a mixer,powder almonds,cashews and cardamom.
3.Boil the milk in a saucepan and as the milk starts boiling , add the powdered almond mixture.
4.Add sugar and stir consistently for about 5 minutes and leave the stove on a low flame for the milk to thicken a little bit or till it develops a thick layer of film.(In my opinion, the film layer adds to the taste)
5.Once a thick layer of film is formed, remove from flame and add a pinch of food colour.
6.Depending on liking,the kheer can be refrigerated or can be had warm.
