Idi Chakka ( tender jackfruit)- 1 can
Grated coconut- 2 table spoon
Cumind seeds- 1 tea spoon
Mustard seeds- 1 tea spoon
Turmeric powder- 1 tea spoon
Urad dal- 1 tea spoon
Curry leaves- a few
Coconut oil- 2 table spoon
1.Cut the jakcfruit into small pieces. In a bowl , pour some water and drop the cut tender jackfruit pieces along with salt and turmeric powder and cook them on medium flame. ( they can be pressure cooked alternatively).Make sure the tender jackfruit is not overcooked.
2.Once cooked, drain the water and keep aside.
3.Grind together, cumin seeds, coconut, garlic cloves, pearl onions and red chilly to a fine smooth paste.Do not add water.
3.In a pan, pour the coconut oil.Once hot enough, add mustard seeds , curry leaves, urad dal and once they splutter, add the cooked jackfruit and finally the ground paste.
4.Add salt if necessary.Fry it until the mixture coats the jackfruit and the raw smell gives away.
5.Serve as a side dish with hot rice.
